And then there are things like feasts (dunno what that's about), marriage (don't know how to go about that, or if it's useful), getting better equipment for my troops (where? how?), recruiting heroes (got two, I think) etc. Are there must-have skills/abilities or whatever? Just read up on training, so will be focusing on that for the next few levels (only 4 or 5 atm). Getting a bit better, but I'm using sword and shield and miss more often than hit when I'm riding by enemies. Also (and I'm still looking through other threads), I'm pretty awful at mounted combat. Does anyone have any tips on trading? I know it's a good source of income, but at the moment it seems to take more time and risk than its worth (I'm having a hard time keeping a large enough army to take longer trips WITHOUT getting jumped by large groups of raiders/bandits. It feels like I'm shooting in the dark right now. I'll do a villain character next or maybe start my own kingdom, but for now I just want to get used to the game, and I'm not sure I've done that yet. Is there a way to see the state of the kingdoms? Who's doing best, who has most holdings, whatever? This campaign is probably just going to be a test. I just accepted Merc work for the Kingdom of Swadia on a month-by-month basis, dunno if that was the way to go, but figured it might give me some direction. When they come on, I've been doing tournaments to level myself up and get a bit of cash. What do most folks do when starting up? For troops, I stop at every village/town on the way and recruit them, then train them by hunting bandits, though that hasn't been super successful - often I get ambushed by larger bandit groups than I can handle, or too many recruits die to make it worthwhile. Honestly seems like a perfect game for me, but at the start there's just a bit too much to do and no direction to get you started (beyond a small bandit hunting series).
